November in Review

Well this post is in the true typical fashion of our blog, doing a month in review. Thanksgiving was great. We have a lot to be thankful for and mostly I was thankful I didn't have to cook one thing... (I did clean the house as we had everyone over here)
Thanksgiving Pictures

Bekah looks like she ate half the turkey her belly is so big. This is the turkey Carl made. Yes,that is BACON on the turkey.

Ethan enjoying the bone more than the turkey. Jacob taking a post-turkey nap.

They are happy children I promise..

My attempt at Ethan's birthday cake. Some how once I found the camera most of the candy was missing...

Ethan was not too impressed by my great cake-making skills..(I wasn't too impressed either..) We took a short vacation to Park City. Here are some of the highlights.. who am I kidding.. these are the ONLY pictures we took.

Cousins and Kimee got their faces painted.

A birdhouse craft project she got to paint.

Hanging out at the condo. Love their faces.

Jacob and Bekah are both smiling.. Gotta love that face.

We spent some time at the pool.

This is how Jacob and Bekah spent most of the vacation. I love that they are kind of holding hands. They are starting to notice more things especially eachother. I think I can finally say that I am enjoying having 2 babies. One thing I love about vacation is that there always seems to another set of hands around.. I was spolied and so were the kids. It does take the kids and myself a few days after the vacation to adjust to not getting everything they need or want right away. A little crying never hurt anyone right? All and all it was a fun trip and it was nice to get away.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving From Bekah and Jacob.

Watch us grow... It's been two months, now.

It has been 2 months and the twins are doing what they do best and that is growing.
So 2 months took us from this...

to this

What exactly does that mean? For Rebekah, that means she gained almost 7 lbs, grew almost 5 inches in height, and almost 2 inches in her head. For Jacob, that means he gained almost 6 pounds, grew 3 inches in height (he is so stiff and curled up I don't know accurate these measurements are), and also 2 inches in the head. Not bad for only 2 months of life. Aren't we glad we don't continue at this rate?

The stats for Rebekah
Weight: 13.35 lbs (that is the 93% up from 16% at birth)
Height: 23 inches (73% up from the 12%)
Head: 15.5 inches (Surprisingly that is only the 66% up from 42%)

The stats for Jacob
Weight: 11.49 lbs (43% up from 4% at birth)
Height: 22.25 inches (23% up from the 14% at birth)
Head: 15.25 inches (21% up from the 9% at birth)

Surprising how some of the measurements are not that different but I guess because of the gender the percentile varies. (For example, their heads and height are not that different inches-wise but percentile wise it is a huge difference) I thought for sure Bekah's head was going to be in the 90% plus. If she is only 66% I would hate to see a baby that really was in the 90th, that would be big head. We are busy but either we are adjusting or just learning to cope.

P.S. Random people always like to stop, look, and talk to you about twins for some reason. I tell people they are a boy and a girl and their next question is "Are they identical?" Come on people..don't make me wear a shirt that says, Yes they are twins and NO they are not identical.

Do they belong?

I love it when people always ask who your babies look most like. Personally, I think most babies all look alike until about 9 months or older. So fun I posted pictures of everyone in our family at 2 months of age. You can be the judge of who the twins look most like. I almost put the twins in the same outfits that the other kids where wearing when they were 2 month but thought that was just asking for trouble because I in a few years I probably wouldn't know who was who. So here you go, our family at 2 months of age.

Those who had hair..

And those who didn't have quite so much hair.

Halloween Costumes

Halloween was a fun/interesting time this year. We started the Halloween season off by carving a pumpkin. I say "we" because Kimee started by choosing the design and then tracing it on the pumpkin. Then she lost interest and was done. I was left to connect all the little random holes she punched everywhere to try and make sense of the pattern and then I began carving. I don't think it turned out too bad.

Kimee and Ethan have these Mr.Potatoe head like pieces that you stick into the pumpkin.
So these are their pumpkins.. Very creative to say the least.

You know your kids must not feel well if they are sick on Halloween night. You would think this picture would be showing the after-math, the sugar high hang over, but no. This was before we had even started trick-o-treating. Finally, after some coaxing we got Kimee and Ethan to go around the neighborhood. They liked it once they got going.

Here are pictures of their costumes the day after. Ethan was a dinosaur and would not stop running around saying "roar." Kimee was Rupunzel.

The twins were from Dr. Seus Cat in the Hat; Thing 1 is Bekah and Thing 2 is Jacob. I was going to dress up as the Cat in the Hat but didn't end up doing so.

October Come and Gone

I can't believe October is gone. Here are some random pictures from the month. The Halloween pictures will follow shortly, so stay posted for those.

My mom had her birthday. We will leave how young she is to your own creative mind. (Hint: The candles are no indication of age it was just what we had in the cupboard). We had my parents over for dinner, cake and ice cream. The cake was super amazing as you can tell... It is the thought that counts right. Kimee helped and loved to do the Halloween sprinkles.

I am not sure on Ethan's pose here but I think it is cute.

Rebekah and Jacob at 6 weeks. There is just something about a sleeping baby.

Kimee singing songs to help the babies sleep. She is good helper.

I believe something is wrong with this picutre. (Hint: Bekah is still very bright-eyed)
This is Daddy's idea of babysitting. I guess even Dads need naps.

New Career Path?

I may have discovered a new career in competitive eating. We went to lunch yesterday at Porter's Place, in Lehi. Pictured here is the "destroying Angel." Austin said that he would pay for my lunch ($17.00) if I finished the whole thing... so I did. On one hand, I had to protect my pride while on the other hand, I knew that Emilee would be plenty mad at me for spending $17 on lunch. To add some perspective, I cut the burger into fourths (trick I learned on Man Vs Food) and each fourth was a little bigger than a Burger King Whopper. We'll see what the next challenge brings.

Growing, Growing, Growing

Here are pictures since the last post didn't have any.

Mom with the kids doing cookies one day. She has been a great help doing whatever needed to be done.

Bekah and Jake are just 6-weeks but they are growing. Their faces are more round and they are getting those baby fat bracelets around their wrists and their ankles. Jake is still smaller but that might just be his build. They both do their share of eating.

The other 2 rugrats. Kimee has a butterfly on her face as we went to the PTA school carnival a few Fridays back. She wanted to sleep with it on and needless to say I let her, BUT only to prove to her that it would be wiped off by morning. She thought it would stay on forever.

We are not THAT old

Not sure if this post will include pictures but I just have say a few things. Lately, I have received some comments that make me feel old.

First, Kimberlee is in preschool(can I really have a daughter leaving my site?) She was asked to take a picture of her family for a lesson on families. We sent her with a current picture. After school she very excitedly informed me that she won a prize because she had the biggest family out of all her classmates. For some reason, this made me feel old.

Second,my cell phone recently died. A very sad day. I went to the provider store to look at the options, which weren't many due to my cheapness. The salesman looked at my plan and confirmed I was due for an upgrade since it had 3 years or so. He was amazed that there were plans still in use that didn't have the data option on them. I told him my phone was not data compatible. The conversation went something like this.
Him: You really should upgrade to a data phone and get the data plan.
Me: I don't really want to pay for the data plan nor would I use it.
Him: Oh, well you should at least get the unlimited text option.
Me: No thank you. I just want to keep my plan cheap.
Him: Oh, I guess "your generation" might not know how to use text or the great advantages of texting.
Me: Quiet, taken aback by his remark.
Him: You do know what text messaging is don't you?

Lets just say I didn't buy a phone from him. As a side note, I do know how to text and I am not against it. I am just not obsessed with it.

Third, ironically the phone I did end up buying does seem to be literally for old people since I don't want to come into the new smart phone age. It is a basic flip phone, yes they still make those, which has the following limited features that makes me think it is for the old people. You be the judge. First, the reviews. One review said, I can talk on it without my hearing aid or the next reveiw, I can see the keypad without my glasses. Or the review that said bought this phone for my grandma and she loves it. (need I go on) Second feature, the ring tone. It has LOUD and LOUDEST. I guess they are wanting me to go deaf so I can use that hearing aid enabled feature. The loud is plenty loud. Third feature, the size in which the numbers appear on the screen. It has LARGE and LARGEST. The large is plenty LARGE. Okay so I get the point, I am old school but not old.

Fourth, when people find out we have 4 kids they always seem to ask if we are having more. Then they proceed to say something like this, Well at "your age" don't you think 4 is enough? Or at your age, you aren't considering any more right?

Maybe all these comments are coming from few grey hairs I have incurred since turning 30. Maybe they are more noticeable than I thought. Trust me there are several things that make me feel older already, I don't need the extra reminders.

In the next post I will share some funny things that have happened as we are all adjusting to have having new babies in our lives. Thanks for letting me vent.

One Month Down

It is has been one month. I admit the month as whole went by fast but each day and night seem long. Just a few updated pictures. There are more Bekah than Jacob so I guess we better work on that.. don't want to be unfair and not treated equally already. In my defense, I do believe some of Jacob's pictures got deleted when Kimee did her picture scavenger hunt.

Bekah for a few days would pull on her ear. Here you can she is getting a little too much to eat..

We are not sure how much they weigh but Bekah is by far the bigger one still. More pictures of the two of them to come.

Bekah will furrow her brow quite often.

Jacob sleeping on the couch. These are preemie clothes and he is just now filling them out.

Kimee loves to help and hold the babies, especially Jacob.

These pictures were part of Kimee's photo scavenger hunt. I made a list of things and people around the house. I read her what was on the list and then away she went with the camera. She had to take pictures of things on the list. She loved this. She had a few pictures that were not so good but she did take these. She took Ethan's and told me that this was on the list under "doing something funny." She took the one of me and told me this was on the list under "someone you love".. (Aww, my 4-year-old CAN be sweet!!) For the record, I did make the list, but I honestly thought when I put "someone you love" on the list she would take pictures of the babies. Also, I didn't know why she was taking my picture either until after when we looked at all the pictures and she told why she took them. Anyway, that is what we have been up to lately.
