We started of the holiday by going to the balloon races the morning before. Carl and I enjoyed it but the kids, well the pictures pretty tell you their attitudes.. Even after going most of my life to this there were some differences this year. I saw some new balloons that I don't think had been there before or at least for a while and my dad wasn't there. (Missed you dad!)The other cool thing was I saw ballon land very skillfully in an empty lot. A lot where just one house used to be. It was just down the street from the field where they launched the balloons. It was amazing to watch. It was such a small lot, inbetween buildings, trees, powerlines, and in the middle of two other currently exisiting houses. It made me think how trained, skilled, prepared, focused this pilot had to be to land this huge ballon on this small space. We can achieve anything despite what other factors are going on around us if we have our sights focused and are prepared.
We started the day off early by running the Freedom Run 10 K. We (yes we, Carl and I) together. We stayed together the whole time even though we had different paces. He is in much better shape than I am. He still holds it against me that I finished like 1 one-hundreth of a milli--half-second.. (very techincal term there I used but a very very small amount) before him.
Then we went to the parade. It was hot. Kimee and Ethan did better after we got the Slurpees.. I tell you 7-eleven was a happening place that day especially since it was right on the parade route.
We came home and crashed. We were all so tired from being on early schedueles. Later we went out to watch fireworks with family. This was about our speed for fireworks this year. We didn't last long enough to see the Stadium of Fire Fireworks, which we usually do. For the record, Bekah enjoyed the fireworks asleep in her carseat so no pictures of her.
