Califrornia Trip Part 2

We took an afternoon trip to Sonoma (about 30 minutes from
Grandpa's house) to Traintown. Kimee really liked it. It was about
a 20 minute trainride. Kimme liked sitting in the cars.
We started on the station and the ticketmaster took our tickets.
All aboard!!
This is at the station. They have a few different engines
that use depending on the day.
A view of about how long the train was and
the engine.

The train ride had lots to see. We went over bridges,
through tunnels, and by a small town.

We even stopped for a few minutes to visit
the town. These look like storefronts but you
can actually go in them.

Kimee in the jail. She looks as though this
is a permanent thing. Carl and Kimee at the saloon.
What good is a city without an outhouse?

Also this little city had a petting farm. The animals were
very friendly and knew they were going to get fed. Kimee
didn't really have any fear. (They were all about the size
of the dogs she had been around all week and actually later
she did try to hand feed dog food to the "big doggy" once
we got home. )

Enjoying the train ride.

This little pond was at the station. The sign says
"Please no rock throwing." Kimee worst nightmare.
She also was trying to feed the ducks but got a little
nervous when they got to close and would just throw
the food instead of letting the ducks eat out of her hand.
It was a fun day and Kimee wanted to ride the train again.
A vacation can't last forever. We spent time with Grandpa
and Carl did a few things around his house. It was decided
that everyone could take a few things from Grandpa's house
since we didn't know if we would be back for the funnel.
A few things turned into a few more things and before you
knew it we had a 17 foot Uhaul truck rented. Carl and his dad
took turns driving that home. Luckily we only had a few
close encounters until they realized the back was a little
wider than the front.
Kimee and I were in the minivan. It made
for a long trip home since Kimee slept only
40 minutes during a 14 hour time frame.
We tried to drive straight through just to
get home but we did stop at a nice park in
Wendover for Kimee to play. Overrall, it
was a nice vacation but we are done with
road trips for a while.

A Summer Road Trip Part 1

What would summer be without a long road trip? We decided to drive about 14 hours out to California to visit Carl’s grandpa. He has been very sick so we decided it was time to go visit. It was a low-key vacation. It was fun for Emilee to see where Carl spent his summers as youth. The city is located in wine country and Emilee had never seen so many vineyards. Somehow we failed to get any pictures. Here a just a few pictures of the things we did.

This is an "art" tree that you see driving across the Salt Flats.

This is O'Brian, Aunt LaLa's Dog.

This was a vacation of "big doggies" for Kimee. She
loved the dog and would tell it to "sit"and it would sit.
She also liked putting her hands in his mouth. Somehow,
the dog got all the attention and we forgot to get a picture
with Aunt LaLa. She cooked us a really good dinner one
night after visiting Grandpa in the nursing the home.

This is Herman, Uncle Roman's show dog.

Herman was at Grandpa's house the whole
time we were there. We would come home and Kimee
would call out "Herman." This dog is still a puppy so
sometimes Kimee would get him wound up and then
he wanted to play but Kimee wasn't quite so ready
to play.
These are donuts from Buttercream Bakery. They
are sooo good but you can only one or two before you
get sick. Of course, we couldn't let Kimee miss out on
the good stuff so here she is eating her Apple Fritter.
(Don't worry she didn't eat the whole thing.)
